As part of the Technical & Reliability Management Team the MP&D Manager:
Leads and manages a team of experts in the planning and development of the preventative maintenance strategy for all process, packing conveying and materials handling equipment of the Manchester Plant to ensure high levels of plant reliability and maintain equipment to meet strict legal requirements for people safety, quality and food safety.
The MP&D Manager has 7 direct reports and is responsible for the Plants 2m expense repairs budget. Indirectly manages 40 shift based craft persons.
**WHAT WILL I BE DOING?**
Effective management and maintenance of the plant production asset base of approximately 90m value to include submission of capital repair and replacement requests and business case
Ensures all maintenance activities are planned and developed in line with Global People Safety, Food Safety and Food Quality Standards
Is responsible for the effective day to day management and control of the annual 2m equipment repairs budget
Develop the team of 7 maintenance planning and execution engineers to use industry standard best practice methods such as RCM and Lean methodologies whilst following the Company standards within KWS (Kellogg Work System)
Ensure effective communication and coordination between the maintenance planning and execution teams and all relevant stakeholders in the operations management and support functions of Health & Safety, Quality and Food Safety and Production Planning/Scheduling
Develop and work to a defined aligned management process both within the function and cross functionally
Act as deputy to the Technical & Reliability Manager as part of the Plant Senior Management team
Supports the Technical & Reliability Manager with and carries out Industrial Relations Negotiations and Consultations with site union committees
Act as a point of escalation for major reliability issues on plant
Support all activities related to RM, KWS
Day to day SAP/KPI review to ensure workflow management is in control
Supporting and engagement with engineers development through Coaching, PDP and appraisal
**WHAT DO I NEED TO DEMONSTRATE?**
Educated to Degree Level or equivalent in Engineering or Science skills
Extensive technical expertise gained through experience within the food process and packing industries, both mechanical and electrical (inc. controls) with technical depth in at least one of these disciplines
Good numeric, communication and strong problem solving and analytical skills
Experience in change management and industrial relation negotiations
Ability to lead, coach and motivate a team on a day to day basis
Able to communicate at all levels within the plan environment
Computer literate with a thorough understanding of SAP and Microsoft Office software applications, knowledge of computer based maintenance management systems
**WHAT ELSE DO I NEED TO KNOW?**
The role will be working in the Manchester Plant reporting into the Technical Reliability Manager as part of the Technical and Reliability team. Travel may be required occasionally to benchmark across other Kellogg network sites.
